On 22nd and 23rd October, thanks to the support of Sant'Egidio, representatives of different social and ethnic groups of the area gathered in the city of Ghat in the Fezzan region of Libya.
This meeting, first in its own kind, was attended by representatives of local institutions and councils of various tribes including Touareg, Tebou and Arabs. A joint appeal was direct to the International Community and to the Libyan institutions to address the problems of the citizens of this region, among the most marginalized. Moreover, Sant’Egidio solicited all parties involved, to support all efforts of development and reconciliation.
