Following the terrible attack at the synagogue of Halle, in which two people lost died and two others were seriously injured, the Community of Sant'Egidio in Germany released a statement to express both profound sorrow and solidarity for the families of the victims and wounded, and its outrage at the anti-Semitic violence that has affected a praying community.
Sant'Egidio firmly condemns all forms of anti-Semitism and violence, renewing its determination to combat anti-Semitism and racism through the culture of encounter and the memory of the past. Moreover, Sant’Egidio calls for a greater vigilance to be exercised also over language, over the use of violent and racist words and attitudes that lower the level of civil coexistence, increase prejudice and instigate violence towards every person considered different for ethnic or religious reasons or because they are old or sick, renewing his will to build a culture of coexistence , especially with young people.
