“The reason why you are here is Global Friendship. We are here to say NO to harsh words between Europeans, young people, towards those coming from the South of the world. We believe that there is no future for Europeans countries opposing each other. For Hostility between Europeans nations: there is no future. The only future is together! What is beautiful here is that more than a thousand Europeans young men and women are sharing words of friendship and solidarity. They say they don’t like words that cause division, words like weapons against each other. We don’t like them.”
With these words Andrea Riccardi addressed the 1000 young people who came to Rome back in July 2018, for the "A Global Friendship to Live Together in Peace" Meeting of the Community of Sant’Egidio. 1000 young people from 24 countries, committed to helping others and building a culture of peace, this is the #GlobalFriendship.
