Sant’Egidio International Congress: “The poor are at the core of Christian Faith” – a day of reflection

During the International Congress, with Sant’Egidio representatives from Africa, Asia and Latin America - taking place in Rome, a full day of work and reflection was dedicated to importance of meeting the poor. In fact, the poor are the very heart of the Christian experience, as well as at the heart of every service the Community carries out in different contexts, with a unanimous spirit of friendship and generosity.
The conference, introduced by Cristina Marazzi, focused on the different issues relating the elderly - a real "continent" - the homeless people, prisoners, and children on the outskirts of the world.

Profound reflections and inspiring testimonies revealed the enormous value – both human and religious - of encountering and be-friending the fragility of those whom the "culture of waste",puts on the margins of society and which instead represent the center of the life of Sant'Egidio, all over the world.
