Pittsburgh Synagogue massacre: never underestimate the words of hatred. Countering racism and anti-Semitism

The Pittsburgh massacre, in one of the historical synagogues of the United States, arouses indignation over the new innocent victims of anti-Semitism. This episode is bringing us back in time and must concern Europe seriously. Too many episodes of racism and violence have recently multiplied.

The Community of Sant'Egidio expresses its solidarity with the Jewish community, once again hit. The Community stands close to the families of those who lost their lives and those who were wounded in the absurd attack of today. At the same time it invites institutions and all citizens not to underestimate the words of hatred that are sown in our societies.

On the contrary, it is necessary to strengthen the commitment to countering racism and anti-Semitism with the culture of encounter, with the knowledge of the present and the memory of the past.
