The Community of Sant’Egidio, Sophia University and Rissho Kosei-kai will hold the first Tokyo International Conference entitled NEW VISIONS OF AFRICA, which will take place at the Sophia University on Saturday 19th of May. Starting from the TICAD VI Nairobi Declaration, the conference aims to address the current challenges and issues related to conflicts, poverty and other humanitarian crises. Moreover, the purpose is also to seek taking necessary humanitarian and political actions, in connection with the Japanese and the Italian governments, related to the Sustainable Development of African countries.
It will be the first Trilateral Conference – Africa, Japan and Italy – with the presence of several relevant personalities coming from Africa. Among them: HE Hon. Charles Dubane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Central Africa; HE Olabisi Dare, Head of Humanitarian Section of the African Union; the Hon. Samia Nkrumah, Member of Parliament of Ghana and president of Kwame Nkrumah Center; Dr. Pacem Kawonga, activist of the Community of Sant’Egidio in Malawi.
All the journalists are allowed to personally interview them and the other speakers present at the event, at the press hall downstairs in the same Auditorium, from 9.30 am until 6.00 pm of Saturday 19th of May – during the Conference schedule. The Conference will bring together 700 participants including political leaders, Ambassadors, representatives of UN Agencies, development and humanitarian experts, NGOs, religious leaders and Faith based organizations, leaders of civil societies and academic institutions from Africa, Japan, and other counties. Through sharing among participants ideas and thoughts in various sectors and fields, we will all together commit to achieve Africa’s common good.
