From clothing to job search, a new point of reference for the poor people in the Russian capital city

The "House of Friends on the Street" is the accomplishment of a dream: to have a place in the city where homeless people can find hospitality and benefit from pivotal services.

In this house it is possible to wash and dry clothes, receive assistance in finding a job, have access to both internet and a phone facilities to stay in touch with relatives and loved ones. Moreover, there is a library where to read books and/or receive ordinary mail, so important for those who live on the street as it allows those who do not have a home to give an address to relatives and friends.

The "House of Friends on the Street" is open three days a week and, to those who wish so, it offers a weekly assistance at public offices. The project was realized thanks to funding from the Presidential Fund to support civil society. The care and beauty of this place, the atmosphere of friendship surrounding it, make the "House of Friends on the Street” a unique place in Moscow where Sant’Egidio can contribute to spreading a new sensitivity towards people living on the streets.
