On Friday 24th May, the founder of the Sant’Egidio Community Prof. Andrea Riccardi will be awarded with Honorary Citizenship for Peace – in the beautiful setting of the Sala della Conciliazione in Assisi. The City of Assisi granted the award in June 2018 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Community "which has always been helping, with loyalty and passion, the poorest and the weakest in the outskirts of the world (children, elderly, people with disabilities, homeless, minorities, migrants and refugees); which has made a pivotal contribution towards peace in different countries affected by war and violence; which has been tenaciously practising "the art of dialogue" and courageously pursued the "spirit of Assisi" through the annual Prayer for Peace”.
