The Community of Sant’Egidio, which in collaboration with the government of the Central African Republic and the United Nations is participating in the pilot project for the disarmament of political-military groups, delivered food assistance to the people who put down their arms at Bangui.
Moreover, the recipients, who are from armed groups such as MPC; Antibalaka, Seleka Renouvelée et Rj Belanga, expressed their gratitude to the Community of Sant’Egidio for its support, which is necessary for the success of the disarmament program.
From September to December 2017, more than 500 members of the armed groups were integrated into the regular army or included in socio-economic reintegration programmes: a significant step towards disarmament and stabilization of the country.
