Seeking Refuge: Faith-Based Approaches to Forced Migration is a conference in the Poverty and Peacemaking series organized by the University of Princeton and the Community of Sant'Egidio.
Hundreds of people participated to the conference, held on March 3 and 4th, with experts from every sector concerned with refugees: faith- based and secular agencies, government and interagency officials, scholars, grassroots religious leaders, human rights advocates, philanthropists, journalists, students, and refugees themselves. Many underlined the commitment to solidarity and to personal gestures of solidarity facing the world refugees crisis.
At the end of the conference candles were lit in memory of those who died in their journey of hope. It was a moment of hope, a call to action and a theological alternative to rejection and fear.
