On Saturday, June 11, more than 200 seniors participated in a pilgrimage with the Community of Sant'Egidio for the Jubilee of Mercy. A long-awaited moment for the elderly in which most of them are alone. This occurs because their family members emigrated to other parts of the country in search of work. Many of the elderly are also poor.
After marching through the main streets of the city, the seniors reached the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace, and they were welcomed by Archbishop François Xavier Maroy.
The passage through the Holy Door was followed by a moment of prayer for peace, which is precious, especially in this country (Congo) where the violence in the region of North Kivu still affects many individuals.
