During a large assembly, the young people identify the objectives of a year that is dedicated to the globalization of solidarity.
As part of the initiatives for the Jubilee of Mercy, a large assembly of the Community of Sant'Egidio was held in Bukavu, specifically in the Concordia Hall of the Archbishopric. The gathering was a way to reflect on the beautiful Christmas of Mercy that was lived together with individuals of all generations, which go from children to the elderly.
On this occasion, the Youth for Peace renewed their commitment to live this Holy Year of Mercy to the fullest. During the meeting, some specific goals of this responsibility were identified, and their main purpose is the globalization of solidarity.
These objectives include the realization of a society in which violence is banned, the preservation of creation, the equitable distribution of the planet’s wealth, and solidarity to all persons without distinction of age, sex, religion, and ethnicity.
At the end of the conference, all participants joined in a prayer for the healing of Ellard Alumando of Malawi. As you can see in the picture, each of them wore their name on a sign in order to show their support.
