Aquest és l’Evangeli dels pobres,

Lluc 15,3-7
Jesús els va proposar aquesta paràbola:
-¿Quin home d'entre vosaltres, si té cent ovelles i en perd una, no deixa les noranta-nou al desert i va a buscar la perduda fins que la troba? I quan l'ha trobada, se la posa a les espatlles ple d'alegria i, arribant a casa, convida els amics i els veïns dient-los: "Veniu a celebrar-ho amb mi: he trobat l'ovella que havia perdut."
"Jo us dic que, igualment, hi haurà més alegria en el cel per un sol pecador que es converteix que no pas per noranta-nou justos que no necessiten convertir-se.

Avui l'Església celebra la festa del Sagrat Cor de Jesús i la litúrgia ens convida a contemplar el misteri de l'amor de Déu a través del cor del seu Fill que se'ns revela com el cor d'un bon pastor. La del pastor és una imatge estimada pels profetes i Ezequiel ja n'havia parlat: "Això us anuncia el Senyor, Déu sobirà: Jo mateix buscaré les meves ovelles i en faré el recompte... Les faré venir a la seva terra i les pasturaré a les muntanyes d'Israel, en els seus barrancs i en tots els llocs habitats del país" (34,11-13). L'evangelista Lluc, en el passatge que acabem de llegir, com si volgués seguir les paraules del profeta, ens mostra fins on arriba l'amor del bon pastor, que estima les seves ovelles fins el punt d'estar disposat a donar la seva vida per elles. Diu l'Evangeli de Joan que ell les estima i les coneix "cada una pel seu nom" (Jn 10,3), no com una massa indiferenciada. Coneix la veu de cadascuna, el seu nom, la seva història, les seves necessitats, i en cadascuna ha posat tot el seu afecte i tota la seva esperança. En una societat que s'ha convertit en virtual, anònima i individualista com la nostra, és fàcil ser oblidat i desaparèixer. No obstant, el cor de Jesús no oblida ningú, cadascun de nosaltres és estimat i conegut pel seu nom pel Senyor. Sovint, però, ens n'allunyem i ens sentim cansats i abatuts com aquelles multituds que commovien el cor de Jesús, perquè semblaven "ovelles sense pastor" (Mt 9,36). El bon pastor, recorda Jesús, deixa les noranta-nou ovelles a la pleta per anar a cercar la que s'ha perdut. "Buscaré l'ovella perduda, recolliré l'esgarriada", escrivia el profeta Ezequiel (34,16). Jesús no abandona cap de les seves ovelles al seu propi destí; sempre les recull, en té cura i, potser no una vegada sinó moltes vegades, ha hagut d'abandonar les altres noranta-nou ovelles per trobar-nos a cadascun de nosaltres i portar-nos sobre les seves espatlles.
Prayer is the heart of the life of the Community of Sant'Egidio and is its absolute priority. At the end of the day, every the Community of Sant'Egidio, large or small, gathers around the Lord to listen to his Word. The Word of God and the prayer are, in fact, the very basis of the whole life of the Community. The disciples cannot do other than remain at the feet of Jesus, as did Mary of Bethany, to receive his love and learn his ways (Phil. 2:5).
So every evening, when the Community returns to the feet of the Lord, it repeats the words of the anonymous disciple: " Lord, teach us how to pray". Jesus, Master of prayer, continues to answer: "When you pray, say: Abba, Father". It is not a simple exhortation, it is much more. With these words Jesus lets the disciples participate in his own relationship with the Father. Therefore in prayer, the fact of being children of the Father who is in heaven, comes before the words we may say. So praying is above all a way of being! That is to say we are children who turn with faith to the Father, certain that they will be heard.
Jesus teaches us to call God "Our Father". And not simply "Father" or "My Father". Disciples, even when they pray on their own, are never isolated nor they are orphans; they are always members of the Lord's family.
In praying together, beside the mystery of being children of God, there is also the mystery of brotherhood, as the Father of the Church said: "You cannot have God as father without having the church as mother". When praying together, the Holy Spirit assembles the disciples in the upper room together with Mary, the Lord's mother, so that they may direct their gaze towards the Lord's face and learn from Him the secret of his Heart.
The Communities of Sant'Egidio all over the world gather in the various places of prayer and lay before the Lord the hopes and the sufferings of the tired, exhausted crowds of which the Gospel speaks ( Mat. 9: 3-7 ), In these ancient crowds we can see the huge masses of the modern cities, the millions of refugees who continue to flee their countries, the poor, relegated to the very fringe of life and all those who are waiting for someone to take care of them. Praying together includes the cry, the invocation, the aspiration, the desire for peace, the healing and salvation of the men and women of this world. Prayer is never in vain; it rises ceaselessly to the Lord so that anguish is turned into hope, tears into joy, despair into happiness, and solitude into communion. May the Kingdom of God come soon among people!
